"A Mating Couple!"
During mating, the adult male stays near the receptive female. Either animal will initiate mating by rubbing heads or sniffing. Copulation lasts around 20 seconds, then the male dismounts. A pair may mate around 50 times in a 24 hour period. The two literally sleep, mate, sleep, mate, sleep and mate again during this time. Only the female woke up for us at this mating. The male needed his rest.
