"A Cry in the Wilderness!"
The Vervet (Cercopithecus aethiops) is one of the most widespread Guenons (about 20 subspecies) occurring in many local variants throughout savannah Africa. It is usually found in thorny Acacia Trees along water sources. Males are larger than females. It is adapted to almost all wooded habitats outside of the equatorial rain forest. Because of its small size, it is seldom found far from the safety of trees and also depends on the trees for food. It is the only non-forest species of Guenons.
