"Just Passing By!"
The Nile Monitor Lizard (Varanus niloticus) belongs to the Family Varanidae. It is an active reptile and lashes out with its tail when disturbed. Its claws are sharp and long and its jaws are strong. It can grow up to 6 feet in length. It stays close to water and is agile both on land and in the water. It tends to swallow prey whole, like snakes. It often lays its eggs in termite mounds. This one wandered leisurely through a troop of foraging baboons and was given a wide birth.
