| The Banded Mongoose (Mungos mungo) lives in a society led by a dominant female and a dominant male who is smaller than the female. They have very close relationships within the group. They forage spread out looking for dung beetles. They maintain contact by a continuous series of low calls that even includes a 'move out' call. They have often been seen coming to the aid of a companion in danger. One adult male stays behind to guard the young. They are often associated with wooded savannah and termite mounds. | ||||||||||
