Territorial stability is maintained by daily 'challenge rituals ' with each neighbor. When it becomes more spirited, there is a lot of tail-swishing, head-shaking, pseudo-attacks, and horn-contact. Some of these rituals can be loud and violent, while others may be halfhearted and listless. The real fighting is done mainly by territorial males.
