			Bonds between mature females and between mothers and daughters become very stable over several years. There are also more transitory groups of immature warthogs. Subadult males often join bachelor herds. They stay with such a group for only a few months and then become solitary when reaching adulthood at 4 years. Both male and female tend to stay within their natal home range. Boars only associate with sounders which have estrous females.
