"Stay Close Horace!"
There is no definite breeding season, but births usually occur during East Africa's wet season, from October to March. They usually mate soon after giving birth, so the next foal will be born during the following wet season. The gestation period is 12 months. Zebras usually have one precocial foal. It is able to stand within 20 minutes of birth and run within an hour. The newborn coat is fuzzy and marked with brown and white stripes. It eats grass at 1-2 weeks, and is fully weaned in 7-12 months.
