"Something for Everyone!"
Competition among grazing animals is often avoided by a natural "grazing succession. Elephants, buffalos, and zebra are able to move and feed among the tall, woody grasses. The more discerning feeders like hartebeests, wildebeests and finally gazelles usually follow in that order. This is true as far as it goes. Elephants, buffalo and zebra, however, are often found feeding on the short grasses.
