Both parents incubate one egg in a nest about 12-50 feet up. They both feed the hatchling with something called "pigeon's milk", manufactured in the crop and regurgitated. As do all in the pigeon family, Scheepmaker's crowned pigeons have "powder down" instead of an oil gland to preen and clean plumage. These are evergrowing tiny little feathers produced all over their body like talcum powder.
