FOREST BIRDS

All dressed up and no place to go!!

The Scheepmaker's Crowned Pigeon lives in both dry and flooded forests of New Guinea. They are ground dwellers, but will take refuge in trees when disturbed. They also nest and roost in trees. Since they have been severely hunted for meat and for their magnificent plumage, they are rarely found near human habitation anymore.
