THE SUNBATHER

Just looking for a sunny spot to hang out!!

The Ring-tailed Lemur is the most widely studied of these primitive Prosimians. Its name, Lemur catta, comes from the Latin meaning "Ghost cat". It lives in Madagascar in a female dominant society. It loves sunbathing, common to most Lemurs, and males participate in what is known as "stink fights". This involves running his tail over his glands on his wrists and armpits and wafting the combinations of secretions at his opponent with his tail (a "scent bomb" so to speak).
