Emperor Tamarin Monkeys were named after the German Emperor Franz Joseph at the end of the nineteenth century. It's easy to see why. The long moustache is a dead giveaway. We are fortunate to have a thriving population here at the L. A. Zoo. They even let them run free in the bird aviary a few years ago. They were a delight to watch. I went many times to see them.
