Chubbs
(Family Kyphosidae)

Most chubbs are large gray fishes with oval bodies, and small, pointed mouths and tails. They school in shallow rocky area, feeding on algae.

Brown Chubb
(Kyphosus bigibbus)

The Brown Chubb is a common fish in Hawaii. It is abundant at many snorkeling and diving spots, and will usually be looking for a handout. Its body is often dull gray to silver, but it can darken parts of its body, making it part light and part dark. It can also display a mottled pattern along its back and sides.
